"As kids we played
in the hay loft of a big barn up on Pine Hill Road while a very
young Billy Tower repaired his fish nets in the aisle below.
Billy now owns Barnacle Billy's.
"Richard Perkins,
owner of Poor Richard's Tavern, used to babysit for us when he
was a teenager.
"Jack Smart, the popular
radio detective (The Fat Man), was another familiar face around
Ogunquit.
"Walking the Shore
Road gave us plenty of opportunity to see artists and galleries.
Local artist Harmon Neil was especially held in high esteem by
our family. Every day we rode the school bus, we passed his place
on Pine Hill.
" I always wanted
to be an artist. After studying at Boston University and Michigan
State, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern
Illinois University.
"Painting has been
a big part of my life for over fifty years. Presently my efforts
are concentrated on the rocky coast of Maine, its stormy surf,
sandy and rocky beaches, wild flowers, and places like Perkins
Cove and the Marginal Way.
" I hope you enjoy
my work as much as I enjoy painting for you."
